At Manassas Park City Schools (MPCS), we believe every child is unique and capable of incredible growth when they have the right supports in place. Our Office of Special Programs works closely with families, teachers, administrators, and community partners to ensure that students with disabilities receive the individualized services they need to learn, thrive, and reach their full potential.
The Office of Special Programs provides support in evaluation, identification, placement, instruction, and transitional services for students with disabilities. Our team also works hand-in-hand with school staff and families to make sure services are well-coordinated and responsive to each child’s needs.
MPCS is committed to maintaining full compliance with federal and state regulations governing special education. Our policies and practices are guided by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), the Regulations of the State of Virginia, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and the Regulations Governing Special Education Programs for Children with Disabilities in Virginia (January 2010). These laws ensure that every student receives a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE).
Our dedicated team includes special education teachers, related service providers (such as speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, and school psychologists), and support staff who work together to create inclusive, welcoming learning environments for students ages 2 through 21.
